VICTOR GARCIA-BEBEK

A native of Lima, Peru, has more than 25 years of combined playing and coaching experience. He played Lower, Middle and High School as well as Club soccer in Peru, South America. He also represented his High School internationally playing in Great Britain. In 2001 he moved to the U.S. to play college soccer for the Newman University Jets, one of the top soccer programs in the nation. He helped the team to a MCAC Conference Championship and a Region IV Runner-up finish.  Currently he is entering his fifth year as assistant men’s soccer coach at Newman University.  He assists in scouting, recruiting, training the field players and other day-to-day operations.

Victor Garcia-Bebek has also been involved with the Wichita Youth Soccer Community. For the past 5 years he has been coaching competitive soccer as well as running skills clinics and summer/winter camps.         

Victor Garcia-Bebek has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Newman University and is currently working on his MBA. He currently holds a USSF coaching license. He has excellent written, oral and presentation skills in both English and Spanish.

 

Coach Kevin

KEVIN MANGAYI

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Kevin has been involved in soccer since the age of 5 at which he started playing soccer for the youth program of the Zimbabwe Saints a semi pro team in his home town of Bulawayo. He has played at various levels for the past 27 years including 3 years at Newman University where he was named MCAC Scholar Athlete for three years running, was part of several conference and regional championship teams including a final eight spot at the NAIA National Championships. Kevin has been involved, in Wichita; with youth soccer for two years including extensive work with summer camps and our academy. He has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and is currently finishing his MBA with concentration in International Business.

 

Coach Derek

DEREK NICHOLS

Derek Nichols joined the NSA FC coaching staff in August of 2006. Nichols brings with him 11 years of club, ODP, and collegiate coaching experience. Currently he is the Newman University Women's Soccer Head Coach. Prior to his arrival at Newman University he served 2 years as the head women’s coach at Lyon College (NAIA), in Batesville, AR, where he started the program. Nichols spent 2 years as a graduate assistant for the University of Central Arkansas (NCAA Div. II) men’s program from 2001-2002.  In 2002, UCA lost in the NCAA Div. II Final Four in double overtime to the eventual National Champions, and finished the season with the programs highest ever national ranking, 3rd.  Nichols spent 1 year as the men’s and women’s assistant at Hendrix College (NCAA Div. III) in 1999.  He has also spent several years coaching ODP and various club teams in Arkansas.  Coach Nichols has a USSF coaching license as well as his NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma.  Nichols played 2 years for Allen County Community College before transferring to play his final 2 years at the University of Central Arkansas.  Derek received both his MS and BSE in Kinesiology from the University of Central Arkansas.  Derek and his wife, Jessica, reside in Wichita.

Cliff Brown

CLIFF BROWN

"It is great to have Cliff Brown as part of our Organization. He is a great NSA FC asset. Coach Brown brings more than 35 years of coaching experience. He is the best in Wichita and among the best in the Region. I am very happy that he is with us now", Victor Garcia-Bebek, NSA FC Executive Director of Coaching said.

Coach Brown is currently entering his 19th season as head coach of the Newman Jets men’s soccer team, accomplishing a record that already includes more than 200 wins, seven conference championships, six conference tournament titles, three Regional crowns and three NAIA National Tournament appearances.

A goalkeeper out of the University of Washington, Coach Brown was drafted by the Seattle Sounders of the North American Soccer League (NASL) in 1978. He also played professionally with the Wichita Blue and the Oklahoma City Slickers of the United Soccer League (USL) before moving his game indoors for stints with the Cleveland Force, Wichita Wings, Tacoma Stars, Kansas City Comets (MISL), Toledo Pride (AISA) and Tulsa Ambush (NPSL). He continued his professional soccer career as a coach with the Ft. Wayne Flames (AISA), Toledo Pride, and Shreveport-Bossier Lions (USL D-3).
